Chicago Baseball Cancer Charity

Paired with Jellyrollers

We at the Chicago Baseball Cancer Charities (CBCC) have been raising funds and working with two notable Chicago hospitals working to fight cancer through supporting Cancer research and treatment. We are a 501-C organization where everyone volunteers their time including our Golf Committee and Executive Board. Last year we celebrated our 47th anniversary and our primary event has and continues to be our annual Golf Outing. It is held each year around Baseball's All-Star break. Over these 47 years we have raised over $16 Million through the work of these events, sponsorship and private donations. At our annual golf outing we match foursomes with current and former celebrities. Although we are called the CBCC we are fortunate to have a host of celebrities participate including players from Chicago sports teams including baseball, basketball, football, hockey, and soccer. Along with personnel from their front office and many personalities from TV, radio and newspaper.

What new functionality we are looking for

Although we have a strong base of participants and contributors they are aging and we need to be more relevant to today's generation and future contributors. We did develop a website primarily as a way for persons to learn about our organization and participants receive updates on our outing. Unfortunately the person who designed our site moved away and then it got a virus and we could not get it restored. Our Board and Committee members do not have the knowledge or ability to re-design so we are looking for the opportunity to enhance our previous site. Our thinking is to not only serve as a place to learn about our Charity and the organizations we support but be able to register, buy memorabilia, and donate to our charity year round.

How the new functionality will help

We realize we have become comfortable in our process and have come to realize we need to embrace current technology. We are working to bring in younger members to our Committee to enable us to reach more individuals who will hopefully get involved by donating or participating in our event. We are needing to make our registration easier for participants and know that having this feature available will do just that. It will also assist us in our bookings and accounting. A website would dramatically modernize our charity in new and exciting way, and we are anxious to see where it will take us.

How our organization will use the technology

Website

- We need to have a landing page where persons who have heard of us can find more information

- We need to make it easier for our participants and sponsors to share charity details with others

- We would like to have the ability to accept donations from our web page

- A photo gallery to post pictures of the events throughout the year

Registration for annual golf outing

- Having the ability to register and pay online

- Currently this is done through check on the day of the event or mailed in prior and can be a logistical headache

- Ability to streamline our golf pairings, bag tags and other information to the course prior to the event

Ability to purchase memorabilia

- Normally we have some memorabilia available and find it difficult letting people know what and how to bid / buy

- This will allow us to post items throughout the year and make us more relevant year round

Who will use the technology

Board

- To better promote our Organization and all of the charitable work we do year round

- Allow us to showcase the work we are helping to fund at the hospitals and all the great work they do around Cancer research and prevention

- Allow us to share insights about Camp One Step at a Time

Golf Committee

- Registration

- Golf pairings

- Memorabilia

Accounting

- Money collection

- Better audit trail

I've attended the golf outing for the last two years and always feel good seeing what a first class organization this charity is. I know that my donations are being put to good use, by a caring and thoughtful group!

On behalf of the children and families served by Children's Oncology Services, Inc., we are proud of our long-standing partnership with Chicago Baseball Cancer Charities and appreciate their incredible support of our mission. Their tireless efforts to bring hope, support, joy and greater resources to children and families affected by cancer through funding our camp outreach programs has changed the lives of thousands of individuals through the years. This amazing charity would benefit greatly through website support and technology enhancements and allow them to better connect with volunteers, current and future supporters, other charities with similar goals, and the community.

The Chicago Baseball Cancer Charities has been raising money in support of cancer research for over 50 years. Being a part of an organization that has done so much good for their community has been an honor and they deserve an opportunity to enhance their website so that they can expand their capabilities when it comes to raising money. Through their work with Ann and Robert H. Laurie Children's Hospital of Chicago and Northwestern Memorial Hospital (just to name a couple) they have been able to accomplish so much and this opportunity would really help them take their mission to the next level when it comes to raising money for cancer research in Chicago!

I have been affiliated with the CBCC event for many years and continue to be pleased with all they do for others. The monies they raise for the hospitals is tremendous. It is beneficial to hear how the programs they support are returning exceptional results. Being able to enhance the reach through their website will allow even greater results.

I was able to participate in the Charity Golf event and Auction last summer giving me a chance to see first hand the compassion and commitment that CBCC brings to the fight against cancer. Cancer patients, cancer survivors, and cancer treatment programs would truly benefit if CBCC would be afforded this opportunity for online exposure.

I have been participating and attending the CBCC for over 35 years. I have heard about the great work they have done from the hospital doctors and administration along with Kids attending from Camp One Step and their staff. It has a long standing reputation from the celebrities and participants as one of the best run charity golf events in the Chicago area. It would be a real benefit for the CBCC to have this opportunity made available to them to re-establish its website and on-line presence.

Our Mission

To provide financial contributions to further Cancer research and prevention in an effort to decrease if not eliminate Cancer. Our monies go towards specific programs at Northwestern and Lurie Children's Hospitals. These programs are each centered around fighting cancer and in finding a cure. In addition we support Children's Oncology Services, specifically their Camp One Step at a Time. They offer camp experiences and other educational and excursion programs throughout the year that allow children with cancer to just be kids.
